Goodbye, old friend....
I wanted you all to know that we lost our beloved Patches on June 18, 2004. She passed away in her sleep in her basket on the cutting table surrounded by fabrics and the ladies who loved her. She was so loyal; coming faithfully to work, even on her last day! Her little body had gotten so frail and tired. She just curled up there and went to sleep. So many of you have written or called to express your condolences. Her passing left a huge hole in our hearts, but we are so lucky to have had such a special furry friend for so many years. You know, she was lucky, too. She had wonderful people who visited her daily, scratched her ears, and brought gifts she could share with less fortunate felines at the SPCA. I want to say a very big "thank you" to Dr. Lehnhard and everyone at Stockdale Veterinary Hospital. Words can never describe how wonderful everyone is there. For seventeen years they unselfishly cared for our Patches, never accepting anything from us for her food or medical care. They always thought we were taking care of their cat, while all along we felt like Patches was ours - she simply went to the vets at night to sleep and eat.
If we measure lives
not in time
but in grace,
in the joy with
which they are lived,
and in the love
they leave behind,
then we have
much to learn
from our cats.
Thank you little one for all the love you brought to work each day, we'll never forget you!
